Platforms

Mac OS X version (Important Notice)
The Mac OS X version uses Apple's built-in Java, which is a component of Mac OS X 10.2.6 and later, on both PowerPC and Intel.

Installation: Double-click the Equalizer.dmg file and it should mount as a volume containing the application and the manual. Do not put the application in a folder or subfolder with a slash (/) in its name.

Microsoft Windows version
Microsoft stopped including Java with its operating systems some time ago. For Windows users who do not have Sun's Java 1.4 or later installed, there is an option to install a Java run-time for the exclusive use of Equalizer.

InstallationThe installer is prepared using InnoSetup 5 by Jordan Russell. Shortcuts to the application and manual are installed in the Start->Programs system menu. I have tested it under Windows 98 SE, 2000, XP, Vista, and Windows 7. It does not run under earlier Windows versions.

Java: Starting with version 1.3, a Java run-time environment is not bundled with the installer; furthermore the installer will remove any previous bundled Java run-time. This will ensure that users always use a current Java version. If necessary, you will be taken to Sun Computer's Java site when you first open Equalizer.

Linux version
There is a version for users who have Java 1.4 installed (on Linux, etc). Because of the variety of virtual machines available, I cannot guarantee problem-free operation in all cases.

Installation: There is no installer. The zip archive Equalizer.zip contains the jar file and the manual. It requires a Java run-time (Java 1.4 or later). The main class is JEqualizer. The application may be run from the command-line - typically "java -cp JEqualizer.jar JEqualizer".
